Aashiqui vs Aashiqui 2 | A Comparative Analysis | Currently Globally Cinema
Aashiqui is a Bollywood movie which comes under the genre of musical romance film released on 1990. The film is directed by Mahesh Bhatt starring Rahul Roy, Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tijori in pivotal roles.
In the plot of the movie, Rahul Roy (Rahul Roy) getting angry with his father for marrying another woman while his first wife was alive, leaves the house. Anu Verghese (Anu Aggarwal) runs away from an oppressive hostel run by Arnie Campbell (Tom Alter). They both caught up in a disturbance and ends up meeting and falls in love with each other.
Rahul helps Anu become independent in her life and seeks her a job. When she gets an offer to be a model, she accepts it. By that time, Rahul wanted to marry Anu after becoming an established playback singer which he later does. But later Rahul started thinking that it\’s with the help of Anu that he achieved all that he have, started having ego issues. He then started having an unfairly treating attitude towards her. Later Anu decides to concentrate on her career when director Padamsee (Homi Wadia) asks her to accompany him to Paris. Rahul comes to stop her from boarding the flight where Anu stays back to renew their relationship.
Aashiqui 2 is said to be the second part of Aashiqui. Aashiqui 2 comes under the genre of romantic musical drama released in 2013. Directed by Mohit Suri, it stars Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the pivotal roles. It is a musical love story centering the hardcore love between two musicians Rahul Jaykar and Arohi Keshav Shirke, a relationship which is troubled by Rahul\’s alcohol addiction and temperament which is a result of his addiction.
In this movie, Rahul is an established singer who started having a drinking problem and stands at the waining of his career helps Arohi from an average middle-class family to achieve her music goals of life. Rahul falls in love with her voice and takes it upon him to make Arohi a singing star. They fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Arohi\’s career continues to sky rocket where as Rahul\’s career spirals downwards. Arohi even sacrifices her family, career and her fame for Rahul and to fight his alcoholism. But one day all of a sudden when Arohi thought that they are having an improvement in the relationship and Rahul\’s alcohol addiction, he commits suicide jumping from a bridge thinking that his absence would cause peace in Arohi\’s life. She continues singing for Rahul as she comes to know that it was his dream for her.
Analysts say that Aashiqui 2 is not a sequel. It is neither a recreation of the successful film Aashiqui nor is a continuation of the story. The only resemblance its has with the earlier part is that it is a true-blue romantic saga. Aashiqui was all about the ego clashes between two couple who were celebrities while Aashiqui 2 is all about the true, selfless bond between two celebrities where they both are ready to sacrifice themselves for each other. However, it is important that Aashiqui 2 lives up to the mammoth expectations, since Aashiqui has had worked for significant factors like splendid music and strong emotional quotient.
The musical score in Aashiqui 2 is strong as well besides the emotional quotient. Tum Hi Ho was a huge hit and still the most loved song of many. The romance is lively in it, but it is the drama that catches our eyes. The dialogues penned by Shagufta Rafique are note worthy too.
On the whole, the \’AASHIQUIs\’ brings romance on the Hindi screens-intense, pure, selfless and heart-wrenching. It is a stirring account with brilliant shots, outstanding performances, strong emotional quotients and addictive music which makes the film worth watching for the romantics and thus it became the movies among the block blusters.
