Begum Jaan | Bollywood Movie Trailer Review
Vidya Balan is one of the talented artists of the country and in the field where most female actors are treated as side-kicks and are asked to just sing and love the protagonist blindly, Vidya Balan did Paa. Then she did Ishqiya, followed by No one killed Jessica. She kept people in awe with Dirty Picture and finally gave the best of the lot \”Kahaani\”.
Begum Jaan is one such movie which revolves around Vidya Balan, who is acting as the titular character \”Begum Jaan\”, a brothel owner whose workplace lies on the India-Pakistan border.
The movie is set in 1947 and Begum Jaan is asked to evict her place, to which she refuses and when forced, decides to fight against anyone who is not aligned with her views.
The trailer portrays the aforementioned plotline and also, clearly shows that major part of the story happens in the single house which Begum proudly calls her \”Mahal\”.
Period movies always evoke the interest of the audience and this movie should do the same. Also, in a different setting which is inspired by the real-life story, this movie should do well at the box office. We could see that the movie has a raw feel with few adult-rated scenes and violence and as the movie talks about a sensitive subject of Indo-Pakistan partition and the communal violence that followed, it should have been a difficult time for the makers to bring a balance in the story and to avoid any unnecessary inclusions which might not be fact-checked.
We feel like previous female-centric movies of Vidya Balan, this should be a good movie and we wish Vidya and team our best.
