Families against their own | Stormborn Recap and Review | Game of Thrones | Season 7 | Episode 2 | Currently Globally TV series

Damn. That was a lot of scenes. Really!

Stormborn, the second episode of most awaited season 7 of Game of Thrones has arrived today and here is Currently Globally\’s review of the episode.

Have you ever felt in your life that things happen, because they are bound to happen, with and without your will? This episode of GoT seemed to be a proof for that thought!

Westeros, as we all know, is a cruel place where only cunning people thrive or people learn to become cunning to live another day and if they aren\’t, they don\’t see another day.

The second episode begins with Lord Varys being suspected by Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and after 6 seasons, we can understand how much Daenerys has transformed from an innocent forced bride to brilliant judge of characters and she has finally decided to pardon Varys and even the Red Priestess Melisandre for serving other kings.

\”Swear this to me, Varys! If you ever think I am failing my people, you wouldn\’t conspire behind my back. You\’ll look me in the eyes, as you have done today and you\’ll tell me, how I am failing them.
And I swear this. If you ever betray me, I\’ll burn you alive!\”

Game of Thrones is criticized sometimes for very fewer character arcs except for a rare few like Jaime Lannister and still, we could see GRRM and the TV writers trying to make some subtle improvements in these characters and Daenerys deserves a place in it.

Speaking of character developments, Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) has become an efficient ruler and also, a rule of real people and not commoners and he has begun his ride to Dragonstone, to convince Khaleesi to join their cause. However, last time the Starks were summoned by Targaryens, it started a war and took most of the Targaryens and elder of the Starks too. But, we know that wouldn\’t be the case here. It is something we can be sure of. because they are aunt and nephew. aren\’t they?

But, they do not know it and this \”bending the knee to your queen\” might be a very dangerous proposition to make. But, fingers crossed!

Also, how many of you here think along with me that, leaving Winterfell in Sansa\’s hands may not end well for Jon or Little finger. Because, we can see Littlefinger scheming already even after being lifted and near-strangled by Jon Snow, the same way Ned Stark did in the very first season.

Also, Arya Stark is on the way back to Winterfell when her brother/cousin isn\’t there anymore and my gut feeling says, the Stark girls reunion will not be easy as it seems.

I\’m not very sure what Jorah Mormont has to do with the larger things are in motion and I am not sure if him stealing 2-3 minutes of the show is worth enough. (Mind you! I may consider Jorah Mormont and Samwel Tarly peeling off his skin worthless, but, I simply loved Missandei and Grey worm\’s scene together. Because? Reasons. Ahem.) But, the showrunners think it\’s worthy and may be Sam and Jorah\’s friendship might help with Jon and Dan, in their much-needed allegiance.

Also, not to mention, as they say, there are no real friends, even within a family in Westeros and this episode shows a lot of such scenes. Randyll Tarly, the father of Samwell Tarly, teams up with Cersei and sweet-talking Jaime when his son was actually skinning Jorah, the chief advisor of his father\’s enemy.

The very next family sequence I would like to mention is about Greyjoys and when Tarly\’s were swearing their allegiance to different masters unaware of each other\’s decisions, Greyjoys in other hand were fighting against each other and a Greyjoy, with no character arc at all, jumped into the sea to save his skin opposed to his own kin. And I know, you know who I am talking with.

Another spoiler ahead. This might make a happy news for few Dorne-haters. There are no Martells left off I guess and they were all massacred by Euron Greyjoy and his barbarians, including the beautiful Sand sisters. Also, it might be a sad thing for few viewers as the timing of the sequence happened right before Ellaria and Yara began their confluence. So, it doesn\’t matter if you are a Dorne-hater or supporter, they are over now leaving out an only survivor, who is a real survivor at all odds and he does that not by being brave or just or anything like that. But, just by being scared. Long live you, cockless coward – Theon Greyjoy!

Things to ponder:

Was it really Nymeria? If yes, why? If no, why?

Cersei has got a big gun and will it help her cause and should Khaleesi be aware of the weapon?

Thank God. We saw more of Jorah\’s gray skin peeling than those horrible shit scenes in Citadel.

Was Lyanna convinced of Jon\’s decision and will we see more of Lyanna, now that Jon isn\’t there?

No dragons. No White Walkers.

Also, I have my own doubts about the confluence mentioned earlier. I will do a research myself!
