Livin Tamil Web Series – Episode 13 – “Coming-of-Age” Review | Kanna Ravi, Amrutha Srinivasan, Naveen George Thomas

\”Romba impulsesla act panrathala than ivlo problemsnu ninaikren!\”
First things first. Apologies for the delayed review. I personally suck in watching the last episodes of the series I love. Be it HIMYM or Mentalist or Person of Interest, last episode of a good series is like the last page of a book you loved. It\’s hard. Hope you understand.

So, the finale of the best Tamil web series yet! Here\’s our review of both the episode \”Coming of Age\” and our thoughts for the entire series.

What happened?

Haritha (Amrutha Srinivasan) leaves their home and Harish (Kanna Ravi) desperately tries to patch things up and bring them both together someway. Sam (Naveen George Thomas) dumps IRIS as he misses a real human connection. Will Harish and Haritha join hands once again against the odds? Will Sam get the human connection he deserves?

What we liked

Vyas. Girishh. Kanna Ravi. Amrutha. Naveen. In this order.

Prabhuram Vyas for making us experience an adorable live-in journey without any usual compromises even Mani Ratnam had to make for the society!

Girishh. You are a gem who is still to be unearthed. Right from Chithiram pesuthadi based mario music to Livin\’s theme music. You rocked man!

Kanna Ravi. Will Smith from TN. Subtle smiles and compressed anger are few emotions only very few actors in Tamil can do well. You are getting a place in such a list and with right choices, none can stop your growth in today\’s visual medium.

Amrutha. Chennai Singari was just a beginning and Livin\’ took things to next level. Right from romantic scenes to irritated-by-Harish\’s-OCD, you performed your role to the Tee. You looked like a North Indian in the beginning but, shattered all our prejudice with your performance. You go Girl!

Naveen George Thomas. You have an array of emotions and you fit the role of a nerd the same way you would fit the role of an evil mastermind. We loved your romance and felt sorry for you when things didn\’t work out between you and your digital companion. All thanks to your acting skills that made us empathize your feelings easily despite playing a difficult character.

Poetic yet thoughtful dialogues are one of the major plus points and the finale didn\’t disappoint either. Be it Sam\’s simple yet hard dialogues with IRIS or Harish\’s \”I thought I did\” with Haritha. Kudos!

Usage of Livin\’s theme in the finale was a master idea and it jelled well too.

What we didn\’t like

Tata IRIS! Despite understanding Vyas\’s idea behind Sam-IRIS breakup, heart misses IRIS and it was like bringing a kid to the world and dumping it away because it didn\’t meet the expectations. It\’s just the kid! 🙁

Amrutha\’s big bindi! Never suited her!

That\’s all and I had to think twice before getting these two!

Our verdict

Livin was a rare and first-of-many phenomenon in Tamil Web series world and we expect Livin\’s is taken as a standard against which other web series are compared when made. Kudos to the entire team!

Note: We thank everyone who supported us for all 13 episode reviews and who bore our rants! Until next time! 🙂 Thanks to Madras Central who was behind such a good series!
