Another beautifully shot horror movie | Balloon Tamil Movie Teaser Review | Jai, Anjali | Yuvan Shankar Raja | Currently Globally Trailers
Tamil cinema is in a redemption mode for all those silly horror movies made I guess. After Nenjam Marappathillai, we have Balloon, another movie of the real horror genre. The teaser, though revealing most of the story\’s plot, is good and professionally made.
Jai acts as a normal guy and also, the balloon seller turned ghost mentioned earlier in the teaser. Anjali seems to be the love interest of Jai and Janani Iyer should be the girl the Balloon Seller allegedly killed. We could only guess these points from the teaser. Jai\’s changeover in the clown/ balloon seller role will be widely talked and the makeup artist has to be lauded for the same.
The teaser and movie\’s style seems to be inspired a lot by Stephen King\’s novels and movies. In particular the clown horror \”It\” and if the movie\’s plot is half interesting as Stephen\’s novels, this movie is sure-shot a winner.
A horror movie\’s success lies in making you fall for the horror setup it provides and cinematography, art direction, and music, these three have a wide responsibility for the same. R Saravanan\’s cinematography seems to be exemplary and the shots that were taken from the bird\’s view showing Kodaikanal\’s roads and the haunted house is breathtaking and also, the scene leading to a flat well is stunningly shot. Kudos to talented Saravanan R, the cinematographer for such a neat work.
Art direction by Sakthee Venkatraj is staggering and his dedication can be seen in the haunted house design and editing by Teaser specialist Ruben is amazing. The cuts reveal what is required and hide what is actual suspense.
A good horror movie should evoke terror when you close eyes and watch the movie. Yuvan Shankar Raja, the best in BGM today, seems to have done the same with Balloon and you can test the same by just wearing headsets and closing your eyes in the teaser.
Debutant Sinish seems to have got a bunch of talented technicians working for him and this movie has all elements to become a winner if the screenplay enhances the technician\’s work. Currently Globally wishes him and Balloon\’s team all success.
