Shawn is tall for his age.
He is 5.5\” and weighs 130lbs.(58kgs)
Most of his bullies are shorter and skinnier than him.
He can take down any of his bullies with a punch.
I wanted him to feel more confident about himself and his ability to self-defend.
So, I put him in karate class.
He went to karate class for several years.
No significant improvement in his confidence or in his skill level!!
He hated going to karate class.
He didn’t want to spar with anyone because he didn’t want to hurt them.
He hated the trainer.
He thought that the trainer is very rude because he yells at everyone.
I told him that he could not speak in a normal tone when there are 100 students.
Yelling does not mean, he is mad at the students.
Moreover, the trainer doesn\’t yell at him.
However, Shawn doesn\’t want to be in the vicinity where someone is rude to others.
We changed his school when he was in the 5th grade.
The reason is, he thought, the teacher is very rude that she made one of his classmates cry just by scolding him.
I told him that we used to be beaten up by our teachers in India. So, scolding a student is nothing.
That didn\’t dissuade him from leaving the school.
He didn\’t want to be in the class or in the school.
You probably understand my predicament.
Right?
A softie with integrity and a kind heart!
He cannot stand someone being rude to others.
He is too soft and kind for that.
Friends ask me why I don\’t beat him in order to discipline him.
How can I beat or yell at him?
How can anyone be rude to him let alone me?
On the rare occasions, I yell at him, it’s unbearable to see his smiling and bright face wither.
It\’s like burning a beautiful flower with a scorching torch.
Whenever he got bullied, he would tell me about it.
However, if I ask him to report to the teacher, he wouldn’t do it.
He cannot tattletale on his bullies.
He has too much integrity to snitch on his bullies just like this climax scene in the movie \”Scent of a Woman\”
Shawn hasn\’t watched this movie yet.
I am sure, he will like it.
(The young guy in this scene has seen some of his classmates to pull a serious prank inside the school premises. He is forced to snitch on his classmates. He will be suspended from the school if he doesn’t snitch on his classmates whom he hates.)
