Uraiyaadal and stuff | Gautham Vasudev Menon & Mani Ratnam | Art of Making Cinema

If you are Tamil or let\’s keep this way if you are a cinema-loving Tamil, then invariably, you would have loved at least one of the movies that these legends made and would have even fallen in love with the love they portray and their love towards cinema.

When these legends collaborate and do anything, it is bound to be beautiful. Mani Ratnam the godfather of Tamil cinema and Gautham Menon, the inspiration of many recent directors are together for this \”Uraiyaadal\”, a discussion of sorts about the thing they love the most, Cinema!

Right from the early days of life to conception of his masterpiece, Nayagan, Mani sir talks everything that is inspiring and informative for anyone who has an aspiration for cinema.

Gautham articulates the interview so well and extracts all information he wants from a real life legend and we can even see Gautham being a bit nervous and in awe when speaking with Mani sir.

At the same time, we could see many comments about the language they chose to interact with and these are the same people who watch Hollywood movies and compare them with Tamil cinema. If you ant to reach higher, your thoughts need to be widened and not narrowed. Mani sir is known for his intellectual dialogues in Tamil and we can see that they actually like Tamil as a language but they are comfortable with speaking in English and also, this interaction is an insight into minds that are drenched into cinema and cinema lovers from all over the world can cherish it and more importantly, Indians from any language could cherish it. Hence, English interaction could have made been an easier choice to make from a reach point of view too.

I really loved the way Gautham included his personal life scenario about how his wife says Mani sir;s famous dialogue, \”Kambali poochi oorura mathri irukku\” and also, the way Mani sir remains composed for all sort of questions and answers in the way his movie dialogues are made. Crisp but thought-provoking, inspiring and also, informative.

Anyone who feels a passion or attraction towards cinema should definitely watch this and I am sure the person will end the interview learning things he didn\’t realize before about the art of making cinema.
